Volunteer buddies will sign up and be matched with a senior in Pleasantville. Buddies will receive the name and contact information of their senior buddy via email once they have matched. Seniors will also be contacted when matched.
Sign upAs a buddy, you will contact your senior daily via a simple phone call where you remind them to stay hydrated and turn on their air conditioning.
If you notice that they have any behavioral signs of heat exhaustion (e.g. a weak voice, hyperventilation, slurred speech), or they inform you that they feel symptoms of heat exhaustion, immediately contact emergency services.
A daily phone call can also go a long way to reduce social isolation. Don't hesitate to stay on the phone with your buddy and chat for a bit!
